Leila Willis Newton

Leila Willis Newton was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She grew up in tattoo shops and started working summers at Southside from the age of fifteen on. She began her apprenticeship at the age of 18, upon graduation from McCallum Fine Artist Academy, where she studied visual arts and dance. Leila did her very first tattoo on her dad, Bart Willis, when she was ten. Since then she’s been kicking ass and taking names (and appointments). 

Leila has a mix of styles thanks to learning under her nine mentors at the shop. She works at Southside Tattoo and travels to British Colombia to tattoo. At the end of December Leila will be moving to Haida Gwaii to open her own shop in Masset, see her there in the New year, or back in ATX the following summer.

She has tattooed lots of things and stuff. So she’s good to go. Come get tattooed. 

Leila lives on Haida Gwaii, BC and only tattoos at Southside several times a year.
